The Hochstrasser Distillery has been creating the finest fruit brandies, spirits, schnapps and liqueurs for over 80 years. This tradition began when Grandfather Hochstrasser bought an inn to establish a distillery. Many decades of distilling know-how have now been passed on to the family’s third generation. Nowadays the distillery is no longer seasonal, but works throughout the year, producing an extraordinary range of outstanding spirits. The tempting selection includes apricot, pear, forest raspberry and many more. All distilled products can be tasted and bought directly on the Hochstrasser premises.

The staff is always pleased to give personal advice to customers – Gerald Hochstrasser and his team value personal, attentive service and small sales partners over hard-sell marketing and big chains.

From the pear to the bottle

Hochstrasser has put a lot of thought into the experience tour and has devised and created an aroma line for training taste and expertise. Yet the sense of smell is not the only thing being stimulated in a distillery, it is an astonishingly interesting place and a true feast for the ears and eyes as the visitors experience live innovative distillation techniques and the way aromas are perfected in the still. What exactly is the difference between a brandy, a liqueur and a schnapps? The tour provides some profound and interesting answers to this question in the showroom at the end of the visit, where guests can taste some of Hochstrasser’s wonderful products for themselves as well as purchase a bottle or two to take home.
