About Zotter Schokoladen Manufaktur
An expedition to the wonder world of chocolate
The Chocolate Factory in Riegersburg is a family enterprise. Every year, our team of 200 people produce chocolate specialities that are exported around the world. In making these products, they use 200 tons of sugar from Paraguay, about 1 million litres of milk produced by Tyrolese Alpine farmers and 460 tons of Latin American, Indian and African cocoa. The product range is broad: we have everything from nutty, fruity and alcoholic to vegan, our special creation “hand-scooped” and our drinkable chocolate – every one of them has that unmistakable Zotter taste. And: when the name Zotter is on it, then organic and fair trade are what is in it! All the raw materials come from controlled organic cultivation. The packaging is even printed in food colours on environmentally-friendly paper.
The Chocolate Theatre is the name of the tour, and this lively show will take you and seduce you swallow by swallow and piece by piece, as you journey through the world of chocolate – over 200 varieties are waiting for you to try them. At the interactive nibbles station, your favourite chocolate drink is brought to you in the world’s tiniest Doppelmeyer ski lift cable car, and the handmade delicacies race past you on the “Running Chocolate conveyor”. You also learn a great deal about chocolate, this food of the gods. For example, in our Cocoa Cinema, which takes you on a film trip to the cocoa farmers of Latin America.
After your visit to the Chocolate Factory, you can relax right next door in the "Edible Zoo" and enjoy a regional and organic meal in the farm restaurant "Essbar". The entry to the "Edible Zoo" is included in your ticket.
The seal of quality was awarded on 13 December 2010.
