About Andreas Fischerauer Essig
Elixir vinegar
At the Vinegar Center in Eastern Styria, we are passionate about vinegar. Andreas Fischerauer has successfully created an incredible range of vinegar specialities made out of 100 % fresh fruit for the past 15 years – and this vinegar expert is only too pleased to explain how he does this. There is also a great deal to see in Pischelsdorf, including the latest systems for vinegar production and the traditional methods for producing balsam vinegar in the barrel. Andreas Fischerauer also began producing gourmet mustards in 2003 – fine products without any artificial additives.
Vinegar & mustard for all the senses
The Vinegar Center is the right place for anyone considering producing vinegar – Fischerauer is renowned for the consulting services he provides. Fruit trees, aromas and endless fun with experimentation await everyone who visits the vinegar and mustard specialist: he has revived old traditions of mustard production dating back centuries and shows what this means in the experience tour. Here visitors are shown how different types of mustard are made using Austrian-grown mustard seeds. The focus of the tour, however, is vinegar production made using ingredients often picked from the trees on site. Visitors are shown everything from fermentation to storage in traditional balsam vinegar barrels. Taste is perhaps the most important element of all in vinegar and mustard making. This is why Fischerauer always has an extensive and informative tasting session for his guests.
The seal of quality was awarded on 6 June 2011.
